This is the web site for the Basics of Mindfulness Meditation class at InsightLA.org (dedicated to bringing the deep joy and peace of mindfulness and compassion to people everywhere).
The teacher for this class is Mark Miller (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Our class will be held at the following location:
1430 Olympic Blvd.
Santa Monica, CA 90404
Parking and Finding the Center
Parking on Olympic should be relatively easy on Sunday evenings. You can find a space along Olympic or in the surrounding neighborhood. Several spots have parking meters, but the meters go until 6pm, so you won’t have to pay. You can also park at Snyder-Diamond, which is diagonally across the street. Our center is on the 2nd floor of the building.
What to Bring
There are chairs and cushions available at our center so there is nothing you need to bring for sitting meditation. If you’ve been thinking about getting cushions for sitting meditation, you might check out DharmaCrafts. Alternatively, you might wait until after the first class as I will be talking briefly about meditation posture, which has implications for which type of meditation sitting cushion you might consider.
The only other thing to bring is a journal or notebook.
Class Starting Time
Each of our classes will start promptly at 7:30. Due to the fact that we may be in sitting meditation early during a class, please contact me if you plan to be late.
If at any time you need more information, feel free to contact me at email@example.com.
While it isn’t necessary, some of you may want to read a book before and/or during the class that focuses on mindfulness meditation. I would strongly recommend this book – Mindfulness in Plain English, by Bhante Henepola Gunaratana – which you can purchase anywhere, including at Amazon or read it online here.
